Turkey Trot at the (CrossPlex) Junction
The Turkey Trot at the (CrossPlex) Junction is an in-person running and walking event held on Thanksgiving Day in Birmingham, Alabama. This year marks the sixth edition of the event, which takes place at the CrossPlex facility. The race serves as a fundraiser for a non-profit organization's Giving Tuesday Campaign, specifically benefiting swim lessons at the YMCA Northeast and Youth Center.
Participants have the opportunity to engage with the community while supporting efforts to educate and empower the local area. The event moved to its current location at the CrossPlex recently, though it is managed by the same team that has served the Birmingham and surrounding areas for the past decade.
The event features a single distance:
- 5 km running race
The course is open to both runners and walkers. Registration for the event requires a fee, and options are available for those who wish to make tax-deductible donations to the supported causes. The activity is designed to provide a community gathering point before traditional holiday celebrations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
