Redman 9 miler
The Redman 9 miler is a trail race held December 5, 2026 in York, PA, run around Lake Redman. The advertised distance is 9 miles and the route is mostly single track.
The course climbs a cumulative total of 1,200 feet and passes under Interstate 83 twice. Both tunnel crossings often carry ankle deep water. The second tunnel is about 50 yards long and requires ducking for clearance. A headlamp is not required but runners who are claustrophobic or uncomfortable in the dark are warned.
There is one aid station located a little before the halfway point, stocked with water, Gatorade, performance candy and other quick energy items. Time limits are two hours to the aid station (about 4 miles) and 4.5 hours to the finish cutoff.
Online registration closes December 2. Race day registration is available for a fee payable by cash or Venmo.
The course will remain open to the public during the event, so runners are asked to be courteous to other trail users and to avoid littering. Participants are asked to wear orange or other brightly colored clothing. The event is part of the YRRC Trail Series and current YRRC members earn series points.
All finishers receive a finisher item; the top three men and top three women receive premium awards. Post race food will be served in the pavilion and, if at least 60 people sign up, sweet and smokey brisket will be available. New for 2026 are a Ruck division with a 10 pound minimum weight and an Ugly Christmas Sweater award judged before the race. If park trails are closed the race will become a virtual event with no refund; results, awards and finisher coins will still be presented.
