Virginia BBQ: Redbird Run 5K Walk/Run
The Virginia BBQ: Redbird Run is a community 5K run and walk scheduled for June 6, 2026, in Virginia, Illinois. The in-person event begins and ends near Virginia School at 651 S Morgan St. The route goes by the Virginia BBQ Square, Cass County Fair Grounds, Rexroat Prairie, and Virginia Park, offering views of the city. A virtual 5K option is available for participants who cannot attend in person.
Packet pick-up and on-site registration will be located at the Virginia High School entrance. Parking is available in the Virginia School lots and near the ball diamonds. Online registration closes when on-site registration opens.
The race is hosted by the Virginia Cross Country Team, which includes fifth through eighth grade athletes from Virginia and Triopia schools. The team competes in numerous meets from August to October. Proceeds from the event will support student recognition, new uniforms, and new workout equipment.
Awards will be given to the top male and female runners in each of the following categories: Overall, 14 & Under, 15-24, 25-44, 45-64, and 65+. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
