Run for the Rose
Run for the Rose is scheduled for April 18, 2026 in Petersburg, Illinois. The event is a scenic 5K run/walk held at New Salem State Park with the start and finish at West of Wise Winery, located at 14096 State Highway 97. The course uses a mix of roads and trails and runs alongside the Sangamon River within Lincoln's New Salem State Historic Site.
Registration for the event includes chip timing for the 5K, wine tasting tickets, and a wine glass. The winery also offers beer from local breweries. Packet pickup is available the day before at West of Wise Winery and on race day at the venue.
Awards are planned for the top overall male and female finishers and for the top three finishers in each age division for both male and female categories. Due to sections of trail on the course, strollers are not allowed. The event is scheduled to proceed in varying weather conditions as planned.
