Event overview

The 10th Annual Snow Moon Trail Run takes place Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Midland City Forest in Midland, Michigan. The event is organized by Dig Deep with Bayne’s Apple Valley and Jolt Credit Union as partners. A portion of race proceeds will be donated to the Great Lakes Bay Veterans Coalition.

Course and format

The race uses a 5k loop of wide trails (not single track) on cross-country ski and mountain bike trails through City Forest. The loop is marked with small LED lights for night navigation. Participants can choose to complete 1, 3, or 5 laps of the loop. There is one aid station with a bonfire that participants pass twice on each loop. A daylight 5K option is offered in addition to night events.

Registration, amenities and policies

Packet pickup and late registration occur at the Monroe Rd entrance at the event site on race day. Shirt registration ends Sunday, January 25; registrants may opt out of shirts for a reduced fee. All participants receive a 4-inch finisher medal, custom bib, professional chip timing, and free online photos. Participants are provided two adult beverages; alcohol requires age 21+ and a valid ID at pickup. Parking at the City Forest lot is limited; additional parking is provided by the Eagles of Midland about 0.25 miles from the site. Refunds are not provided unless the event is cancelled for reasons within the organizer’s control. Transfers to other Dig Deep-owned events may be allowed with conditions; transfers to other runners are not allowed.
