Red Eft 5.5 Miler
The Red Eft 5.5 Miler is a road race held in Norton, Virginia, that starts just outside downtown at the High Knob Destination Center (HKDC) and runs into Flag Rock Recreation Area before returning to the HKDC parking area. The course is out-and-back and is run on open roads; vehicles will be present and runners are advised to be as visible as possible where the route includes sharp and blind curves.
Event logistics include packet pick-up and race day registration at the High Knob Destination Center. Packets include a race shirt and bib with pins. Online registration closes on July 22, 2027; race day registration is available for a $45 fee.
Support on course consists of aid stations at approximately the 1.9-, 2.75-, and 3.4-mile markers supplying water. Restroom facilities are available at the registration site and along the course in Flag Rock Recreation Area. Timing is done by hand and runners are asked to keep their bibs visible at the finish so times can be recorded.
Awards are presented to the top three men and women and to overall masters competitors age 40 and up. All finishers receive a finisher award. All proceeds benefit program development at the High Knob Destination Center. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
