32nd Annual Run the Tunnel
The 32nd Annual Run the Tunnel is a 3.8ish mile road and trail footrace held at Natural Tunnel State Park, 1420 Natural Tunnel Parkway, Duffield, Virginia. The event is hosted by the State of Franklin Track Club and the Scott County Chamber of Commerce.
The race is part of the State of Franklin Track Club's King & Queen and Trail Series competitions. Awards are presented to male and female winners in Overall, Masters, Grandmasters, and Senior Grandmasters categories. Age-group awards are given three deep for both men and women in these groups: 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80 & Above.
Awards are not traditional trophies or medals; they are items chosen to match the event theme for the year. As an example, the 2025 theme produced handmade zippered shoe bags for overall and age-group winners. The race theme for 2026 will be announced after the first of the year. All participants receive a race t shirt. The published entry fee for the listed event is $20. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
