REAL LIFE 5k/10k 2026
The REAL LIFE 5k/10k is a running and walking event held at the Real Life Center and Retama Park in Selma, Texas. Participants traverse a unique course on one of the live horse racing tracks in the state, utilizing the same turf surface used for horse racing. The event serves as a fundraiser for Real Life Community Outreach, a nonprofit organization providing food assistance, vocational training, and youth programs.
The available distances for the event include:
- 10 km (6.2 miles) competitive run or walk
- 5 km chip-timed run
- 5 km fun walk (non-timed)
The course features a variety of surfaces, including asphalt, grass turf, and loose sand-like clay. For safety reasons, no strollers or dogs are permitted on the course. The 10 km and 5 km runs are professionally chip-timed. A cutoff time is in effect, with the course closing for all participants at 8:00 pm.
All finishers across all categories receive a custom finisher medal. Competitive runners are eligible for awards based on gender and age groups, which are categorized in five-year increments.
