Razom Freedom Run 5K - Chicago
The Razom Freedom Run 5K makes its debut in the Chicago area in 2026. This inaugural local edition is organized by the Ukrainian Running Club Chicago and is part of a series of events held across the United States every August to celebrate Ukrainian Independence Day. The event was originally established in 2022 by Ukrainian Olympian Nelya Neporadna.
The 2026 race highlights two historical milestones: the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States and the 35th anniversary of the independence of Ukraine. The event focuses on the shared theme of freedom between the two nations.
The course is located at Picnic Grove #32 in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. The event features a single distance:
- 5K timed running race
Participants are encouraged to display national colors or carry flags during the run. The race is open to a wide range of participants, including those using strollers and individuals completing their first race. The event serves as a community gathering to mark international independence anniversaries through a timed athletic competition. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
