Corrida del Mariachi 5K
The Corrida del Mariachi is a festive community 5K held in Berwyn, Illinois. The 2026 edition takes place on August 15 and marks the event's seventh anniversary. The course starts at 16th Street and Wesley Avenue and finishes at the same location, passing through tree-lined residential streets that are decorated for the occasion.
The event was created by the North Berwyn Park District in 2018 and is held each year on the third Saturday of August. Proceeds benefit programs at the North Berwyn Park District. The Corrida focuses on Latin culture, health, and wellness in Berwyn and includes on-course entertainment such as mariachi bands, traditional folkloric dancers, and DJs.
The race is CARA certified and offers awards for top overall finishers and age/gender division placings. First place overall winners receive an authentic mariachi sombrero and a first place medal; second and third overall finishers and age-division placers receive medals. Participants receive a collectible yearly finishers medal and costumes are highly encouraged.
Course and event services include water stations, mile markers, medical staff, gear check, face painting, and festively decorated homes along the route. The finish area continues into an after party with food vendors, beer, over forty craft vendors, live bands, and activities for children.
