Raise the Bar 5k Run/Walk
The Raise the Bar 5k Run/Walk is a hometown running event in Springport held to support local running athletes and the school track team. The race follows a two lap course that combines town roads and trail sections and starts and finishes at Springport Bible Church. There are ample opportunities for spectators to watch the course.
Participants receive a T shirt and there are finish line giveaways. A visible timing clock will be used, but the event is not chip timed. Parking is provided at the Springport Bible Church rear lot with overflow parking behind Hotel Tavern and the high school; roads are kept clear for runners.
Funds raised by the event have supported track and field equipment and facility improvements, including warmups, poles, crossbars, pit covers, a cart and starting blocks, chalk and tape, training tools, new throwing implements, and aluminum scorer tables. These additions have coincided with new school records in some events. Participants may log the run on Strava and with the Springport Spartan runner's club for potential bonus prizes. Volunteers are needed and a contact option is available for questions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
