Racin' for Bacon 4 Miler and Pup Strut
The Racin' for Bacon 4 Miler and Pup Strut is a festive running and walking event held at Nomahgen Park in Cranford, New Jersey. Scheduled annually during Thanksgiving week, this event follows a Turkey Trot theme and occurs regardless of rain, snow, or sunshine. The course is described as flat and fast, accommodating participants of various experience levels.
Participants can choose between two main distances:
- 4 miles
- 1.5 miles (Pup Strut / 2k)
The event includes a specific category for dog owners called the Pup Strut. This 1.5-mile walk is designed for participants to bring their dogs along. At the finish line, human participants receive a finisher medal and freshly cooked bacon provided by a local vendor. In keeping with the Pup Strut theme, dogs also receive a bacon dog treat at the conclusion of their walk.
T-shirts and finisher medals are guaranteed for those who complete their registration by the end of October. On-site packet pick-up is available on the morning of the event starting at 8:30 AM. Additionally, the organizers support the Toys for Tots program in Northern New Jersey and encourage participants to bring an unwrapped toy to the event as a donation.
