Race to Space Marathon & Half Marathon : Huntsville, AL
The Race to Space event in Huntsville includes a Marathon, a Half Marathon, and the Saturn "V" 5K. All races start and finish at Bridge Street Town Centre and the courses run through Cummings Research Park, described as the nation’s second largest research park in the US.

The event uses chip timing and provides several pacing groups. Organizers list a post race area with dozens of vendors and live music. Average temperatures for the event period are around 44°F low and 67°F high.
Timing and cutoffs are set for course management: the Half Marathon has a 4 hour time limit and the Marathon has a 6 hour time limit. Marathon runners must begin their second loop before 2 hours and 50 minutes; participants who do not reach the half split in time will be redirected to the Half Marathon finish and will still receive a finisher medal and be included in Half Marathon results.
Packet pickup is at RunningLane on March 17–19 with additional pickup windows on March 20 and March 21. The first 1,000 registrants are guaranteed a long sleeve technical shirt; additional registrants will receive a Race to Space shirt. All finishers receive a medal. Age group award categories are published separately for the Marathon, Half Marathon and the 5K.
In 2026 winners received a $500 prize that established course records. Beginning in 2027 the course record bonus resets to $100 and increases by $100 each year if the record is not broken. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
