Race to Protect Delaware's Children 5k Run/Walk
The event is a community 5K run and a separate competitive walking 5K held on April 18, 2026, at Glasgow Park Playground on Pulaski Highway in Newark, Delaware. Proceeds benefit the Office of the Child Advocate and the Protecting Delaware's Children Fund.
Two entry options are listed:
- 5K
- Competitive Walking 5K - must walk the entire race; running or jogging is not permitted
Registration fees for both listed options are $39.44. Pre-registered runners receive T-shirts; additional T-shirts are available for day-of registrants while supplies last. An after party is planned with music and post-race refreshments.
Awards are given to top finishers. Overall male and female and overall masters awards are scored by gun time; all other age groups are scored by chip (net) time. Medals are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the age groups 13 and under, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and above. Separate medals are awarded to the top three male and female walkers.
Timing uses a chip system (MYLAPS BibTag) and results will be posted online during and after the event. Event policies note no dogs due to insurance liability, bibs are non-transferable, and registrations are non-refundable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
