Race the Train : Bury to Rawtenstall
The event starts at Bury Train Station on the sound of a steam train whistle and finishes at Rawtenstall Station. Runners follow trail paths north alongside the East Lancashire Railway lines and the River Irwell, covering approximately 11 miles in a point to point format. Minimum age is 16 years.
The steam train initially travels south, changes tracks, then heads north and makes its way to Rawtenstall Station, running along roughly the same corridor as the competitors. Friends and family can ride the train and look out for runners along the route; a concessionary train ticket option is available. Entry price shown is £32.65, which includes an administration element of £2.65, and a higher price may apply on the day if entries remain.
