Race The Light at Mothecombe
Race The Light is a crepuscular winter trail event held at Mothecombe on the Erme estuary on Saturday 28 November 2026. The event uses trails across the privately owned Flete Estate and includes crossings of the River Erme estuary that are affected by the tide, so competitors should expect wet feet on the crossings. The classic course finishes with an uphill run to the SchoolhouseDevon restaurant above the water and starts from the slipway on Coastguards Beach.
There are two event options:
- 8.5 miles Classic route with a double estuary crossing.
- Half Marathon Classic route plus an extra 5 miles, returning for a third edition.
Minimum ages apply: 16 years for the Classic and 17 years for the Half Marathon. Each finisher receives a bespoke Race The Light medal. The event is permitted by the Trail Running Association and is held under England Athletics rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
