SALCOMBE BREWERY CO SPRINT TRIATHLON
The Salcombe Brewery Co Sprint Triathlon is organised by Let's Go Velo and is based at North Sands, Salcombe TQ8 8LD. The event combines open water swimming, road cycling and a trail run and is held in September. The entry fee is £65. Entry on the day is allowed if the event is not sold out. Non-members of the British Triathlon Federation must purchase a Race Pass to take part. If sea conditions are unsafe on the day, the event will revert to a duathlon.
Course details
- Swim - 700m
- Cycle - 19km
- Trail run - 3km
The swim starts from North Sands and takes place in the bay. The bike course is a 19 km road loop with numerous undulations, steep inclines and downhill sections, passing Inner and Outer Hope and including a steep climb to Malborough before finishing along an escarpment with several switchbacks back to North Sands. The run is a trail route into the valley behind North Sands, with a gentle ascent to Lower Collaton and a winding track back to North Sands.
Included services and charity
Included provisions listed for participants are event centre facilities, a race medal, medical support, full route marking, rider public liability insurance, a feed stop, a pick-up wagon, event photography and prizes for first and second place male and female finishers. The organiser will donate 5% of event revenue to the Salcombe RNLI charity fund, and participants are encouraged to raise £50 each for the RNLI.
