The Dartmoor Volcano Race takes place on 12 September 2026 in Scorriton, TQ11 0JB, on the edge of Dartmoor. The 2026 event is the 10th edition. Entries open 19 September 2025 and close 9 September 2026. Minimum age on race day is 17 years. Entry fees are listed as £36 for UKA members and £38 for non-members.
Course and race information
The route is a 10.5-mile trail course over rough moorland tracks and trails, with almost 650 m of ascent. The high-level route touches Ryder's Hill (515 m) and passes the Red Lake Volcano. Terrain includes rocky, boggy and sometimes technical sections. The course layout features three river crossings, one clapper bridge crossing, two bogs, a volcano ascent, a long uphill start and a long downhill finish. The race starts and finishes in the village of Scorriton, about 4 miles off the A38 at the Buckfastleigh/Ashburton junction.
The event is fully marked and marshaled by experienced trail runners. A mandatory kit list applies. All finishers receive a bespoke race medal. Event T-shirts can be purchased through the online entry system and collected on race day. The race is organised under Trail Running Association guidelines and UKA rules, with permission from Dartmoor National Park Authority and land owners.
