Race Judicata - Anchorage
Race Judicata is an annual 5K run/walk in Anchorage, scheduled for August 9, 2026. The event is organized by the Young Lawyers Section of the Anchorage Bar Association, with proceeds benefitting the Anchorage Youth Court. The course begins at Bootleggers Cove at Westchester Lagoon. The entry fee is $45 and includes a t-shirt with a custom logo. Drinks and snacks will be provided by the Young Lawyers Section. The event is described as family friendly; participants are asked to leave pets at home. Children under 10 may enter free, and donations are encouraged.
Anchorage Youth Court is a diversionary program for youth in grades 7 through 12 who are accused of breaking the law. Local youth serve as attorneys, judges, bailiffs, clerks, and jurors during hearings. Members receive legal education and participate in court hearings and the Anchorage Youth Court Bar Association. The program gives defendants an opportunity to resolve legal problems through a youth-run hearing without receiving a formal juvenile record, while the community receives work service as redress for the wrongs committed.
