Race 3.21 for Down Syndrome Awareness
Race 3.21 is an athletic event held at the Third Creek Greenway and West High School in Knoxville to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. Organized by the Down Syndrome Awareness Group, the event features multiple participation options designed to accommodate different ages and interests.
Participants can choose between two primary formatted paths. One option is a timed race used for competitive running, while the other is a non-timed path designed for jogging or walking. The non-timed path includes a special turnaround point after reaching one mile. The event encourages participants to wear colorful socks to support the message of universal inclusion.
Available distances and event categories include:
- 3.21 Mile (approx. 5 km) timed run for adults and children
- 3.21K (2 miles) non-timed walk or jog
- 3.21 Mile timed race specifically for individuals with Down syndrome
- 3.21 walk non-timed event for individuals with Down syndrome
All finishers of the physical events receive a prize. For the timed 3.21 Mile race, medals are awarded to the top three finishers in several age categories, ranging from under 4 to over 70. Additionally, the overall top male and female finishers in the timed race receive a special prize. An option also exists for participants to receive event apparel without taking part in the physical run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
