The Pistol Ultra : overview
The Pistol Ultra is a multi-distance endurance event held in Alcoa, Tennessee, centered at Springbrook Pool Center (636 Vose Rd). Races use a paved greenway that follows Pistol Creek. The course is USATF certified, laid out as looped circuits, and is lit for nighttime running. The event includes aid stations that are heated and fully stocked, indoor heated restrooms for weekend use, finisher awards and race swag, and meal tickets for ultra-distance participants (100M, 100K, 50M, and 50K).
Course, distances and time limits
The event uses two certified loop layouts:
- Metric loop and Imperial loop are USATF certified. Distances offered include:
- 10 Mile
- 20 Mile
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
- 50K
- 50 Mile
- 100K
- 100 Mile
Loop details and laps:
- The 50K and 100K share a USATF-certified loop of 10.35 miles; the 50K is three laps, the 100K is six laps.
- The 50 Mile and 100 Mile use a USATF-certified 10-mile loop; the 50 Mile is five laps, the 100 Mile is ten laps.
Time limits are specified by distance category: 32 hours for the 50K, 100K, and 100 Mile events; 20 hours for the 50 Mile; and 8 hours for the 10 Mile and 20 Mile.
