Lucky Kidney Run
The Lucky Kidney Run is an athletic event held in Knoxville, Tennessee, as part of the Knox Shamrock Fest. The activities take place at World's Fair Park, serving as the start and finish point for the various distances. Participants can choose between in-person and virtual options for the following distances:
- 6K running race
- 1 Mile Kids and Family Mile Fun Run
- 6K virtual race
- 1 Mile virtual race
The 6K course follows an out-and-back route starting from World's Fair Park. Runners proceed along the 2nd Creek Greenway and the Neyland Drive greenway before returning to the park lawn. A water station is available at the halfway point of the route. The 6K race has a course cut-off time of 1 hour and 20 minutes, and awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers, the top fundraising team, the largest team, and winners in ten-year age increments.
The 1 Mile Fun Run is a timed but not scored event. While it is open to both runners and walkers, the first 25 finishers receive medals. Participants in the in-person events who register by the specified deadline receive an event-themed shirt, while shirts for later registrants are provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
Proceeds from the event support the East Tennessee Kidney Foundation (ETKF), a local non-profit organization dedicated to kidney disease education, early detection, and patient care in the community. The event is held rain or shine. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
