Pinnacle Ridge Extreme
The Pinnacle Ridge Extreme is a skyrace on the Helvellyn Massif in the Lake District, held in Patterdale on 17 July 2027. The course covers 28 km with 2700 m of ascent and concentrates technical running and hands-on rock scrambling on ridge and crag terrain.
The route includes long runnable ascents through the Glenridding Mines area, technical single-track sections, five graded scrambles, scree-lined descents and knife-edge ridgelines. The profile delivers a large amount of ascent for the distance covered and a mixture of climbing and running over rocky ground.
Entry to this race is subject to strict vetting. Competitors must demonstrate appropriate climbing or scrambling ability; acceptable evidence includes Graded Scrambling of 2 or above, lead climbing skills, winter climbing skills, alpine climbing skills or documented solo climbs. The event information lists mandatory kit and a vetting process specific to this race.
The Pinnacle Ridge Extreme is positioned among the organiser's skyrace events and is described as requiring strong climbing competence rather than just mountain running. Other races offered by the organiser include the Rab Scafell Sky Race, Scafell Sky Ultra, Rab Helvellyn Sky Ultra and St Sunday Sky Race.
