Event details
The Rab Pinnacle Ridge Extreme is scheduled for 18 July 2026 in Patterdale. The route covers 28 km with 2700 m of ascent around the Helvellyn Massif. The event has a maximum allowed time of 10 hours and a minimum age of 19 on race day. Entry fees are published in tiers, reported between £110 (early-bird) and £130.
Course and services
The route includes technical running, hands-on rock scrambling and five graded scrambles on route. Course features listed by the organiser include technical singletrack, scree descents, knife-edge ridgelines and a large ascent profile for the distance. The event is fully marked and provides GPS tracking and timing by Open Tracking, a professional safety officer with a mountain-qualified safety team, a post-race meal with vegan and gluten-free options, and an eco, compostable finishers’ medal. Optional extras are offered through the entry system (race tee, branded goat-bells, post-race massage).
Entry process and requirements
Entries use a pre-selection and vetting process. Applicants must describe recent mountain-running and scrambling experience; evidence accepted includes completion of several named mountain races or significant mountain or rock-climbing challenges. Required climbing experience may include graded scrambling (grade 2 or above), lead climbing, winter or alpine climbing, or equivalent solo climbs. No payment is taken at the pre-selection stage; successful applicants are invited to complete payment to confirm their place. Entries open 4 October 2025 and close 5 July 2026.
