Event overview

The Rab Pinnacle Ridge Extreme is a skyrace held on 18 July 2026 in Patterdale, on and around the Helvellyn Massif in the English Lake District. The course distance is 28 km with 2700 m of ascent and a maximum allowed time of 10 hours. The route features technical terrain including long runnable ascents through the Glenridding Mines, technical singletrack, scree descents, knife-edge ridgelines and five graded scrambles.

Entry, requirements and included services

Entries use a pre-selection vetting process. Competitors must be at least 19 years old on race day and demonstrate significant mountain and rock-climbing experience. Acceptable evidence includes recent completion of several named mountain races of similar severity, recognised long mountain challenges, graded scrambling (grade 2 or above), lead climbing, winter or alpine climbing, or high-grade solo scrambling. Entries open 4 October 2025 and close 5 July 2026. Entry fees vary by date: £110 (early), £120 (from 01/01/2026), £130 (from 01/04/2026).

The event provides a fully marked course, GPS tracking and timing by Open Tracking, a professional safety officer and mountain-qualified safety team, a post-race meal with dietary options, and a compostable finisher’s medal.
