Event overview
The Rab Pinnacle Ridge Extreme is a mountain sky race held on Saturday 18 July 2026 in Patterdale, on and around the Helvellyn massif in the English Lake District. The route is 28 km with 2700 m of ascent. The course includes technical ground and sections that require hands-on rock scrambling and climbing skills. The event uses GPS tracking and electronic timing and provides a marked course and a post-race meal with vegan, gluten-free and meat options. A compostable finishers’ medal is supplied.
Entry, requirements and organisation
Entries are allocated using pre-selection lists. Competitors must be at least 19 years old on race day. Applicants are asked to detail mountain running, race and scrambling experience for review by the Race Director, who has final decision authority. Required experience includes completion of several named mountain races or runs of about 30 km or more within the past five years or significant mountain enchainments or rounds. Significant rock climbing or high-grade solo scrambling experience is a compulsory requirement for entry. No payment is taken at the pre-selection stage; successful applicants are invited to complete payment to confirm their place.
Fees and services
Standard entry fees vary by date. The event provides a professional safety officer, a mountain-qualified safety team, GPS tracking and timing, and optional extras available through the entry system such as a cotton race tee, branded goat-bells, and post-race massage. The organiser is Lake District Sky Trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
