Event Overview
The 27th edition of the Quivering Quads Trail Runs takes place in Cuivre River State Park, located in Troy, Missouri. This trail running event is limited to 400 participants and offers a choice between two distances:
- Half Marathon Trail Run
- 8 Mile Trail Run
The race utilizes single-track trails and wide fire roads. The environment consists of rolling hills, bottomland forests, and views reminiscent of the Missouri Ozark bluffs. Both courses feature several creek crossings at Big Sugar Creek, along with natural obstacles such as rocks, roots, and mud.
Course Details
To manage trail congestion, participants are organized into starting waves of 30 to 35 runners. These waves are seeded based on predicted road race paces for either the 10K or half marathon distances. While the terrain includes some steep climbs and descents, the route is designed to showcase the park's wildlife and scenery.
A course cutoff time is in effect until 1:00 pm for all participants. On-course aid stations provide minimal supplies, and runners are encouraged to carry their own hydration and nutrition. Dogs are not permitted on the course or at the race site.
Participant Information
Registered runners receive a long-sleeve shirt and a custom finisher medal. Post-race refreshments include food, snacks, and beer for those of legal age. Awards are presented to the top two male and female overall finishers, as well as the top two finishers in several age categories ranging from 19 and under to 60 and over. Packet pickup is available at a local specialty running store on the day prior to the event or at the race site on the morning of the run.
