Long Mynd 25
A 25th anniversary, 25-hour adventure race on and around the Long Mynd in Shropshire (SY6). The event is for teams of two or four in Open, Female and Mixed categories and combines trail running/trekking, mountain biking, kayaking and special stages. The format is score-style with no fixed route; the course is split into short stages of about one to three hours with mandatory and optional checkpoints.
Estimated overall distances vary by route choice:
- Minimum distance circa 100 km
- Maximum distance circa 250 km
Sit-on-top kayaks, paddles and buoyancy aids are provided for paddle stages, though participants may use their own paddles and PFDs. Equipment for special stages is supplied. The organisers provide race maps printed on waterproof paper, team trackers, electronic timing, event photography and medical support. Indoor transition areas are available; many transitions offer places to sleep and rest. Limited bunk-bed accommodation is available Friday to Monday at £60 per person, and camping or vanning is permitted.
Entry fee is £350 per person and includes the items above plus a post-race breakfast and a finisher memento. A kit list will be released in March; mountain bikes must have at least 100 mm front suspension travel and 2.1 inch tyres. Onsite facilities include parking, an indoor hall, catering and toilet, shower and changing areas. Bike hire is available from £59 and must be booked in advance.
