The Quayside 5K & 10K takes place on Wednesday, 5 August 2026 at the Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 3DE, UK. The event offers two race distances:

The event is organised by RunThrough in partnership with Gateshead Harriers.

Course and race details

Both distances follow a scenic out-and-back along the Quayside on road-closed streets. The route passes the Swing Bridge and runs beneath the High Level Bridge, Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge, and Redheugh Bridge, with views of the Tyne Bridge, the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, The Glasshouse and the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. The finish is beside the Millennium Bridge. The 5K is one lap; the 10K is two laps. The Quayside 5K is part of the Top Flight Race Series and features leading UK athletes alongside club runners and first-time participants.

Entry categories and fees listed by the organiser include a standard 5K, a RunThrough Foundation place (no fundraising required), a 10K A-race (sub 40 mins) and a 10K B-race (mass). Entries include a unique themed medal, free race photos, chip-timed results and post-race goodies. Each kilometre is marked with distance flags and marshals will guide and cheer along the course.
