Event overview

The Quayside 5K & 10K takes place on Wednesday, 5 August 2026 at Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 3DE. The event is organised by RunThrough in partnership with Gateshead Harriers and is held on road-closed sections of the Newcastle Quayside. The 5K forms part of the Top Flight Race Series. An event village near the finish will provide food and drink options and partner giveaways.

Course and race details

  • 5K - 1 lap, out-and-back along the Quayside.
  • 10K - 2 laps, out-and-back along the Quayside.

The course passes the Swing Bridge and runs beneath the High Level Bridge, Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge, and Redheugh Bridge. Runners will pass views of the Tyne Bridge, Gateshead Millennium Bridge, The Glasshouse and the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, with the finish beside the Millennium Bridge. Each kilometre is marked with distance flags and marshals will guide runners along the route.

Entries include a unique themed medal, free race photos, chip-timed results and post-race goodies. Entry fees listed in the race summary include: 5K £28, 10K A-race £34, 10K B-race £34, and a RunThrough Foundation Place option at £80.
