Pursuit of Happiness 5K, Exeter, New Hampshire
The Pursuit of Happiness 5K is an inaugural 5K road race presented by the American Independence Center on July 11, 2026 in historic downtown Exeter. The start and finish are located near the intersection of Water Street and Center Street. The measured loop course is 5 kilometers and is mostly flat, with a small rise leaving Water Street onto Front Street and a downhill finish. The route passes the Exeter Bandstand, the Old Town Hall, and the Town House Common where the Declaration of Independence was first read to New Hampshire citizens in July 1776.
Packet pick-up and race day registration are at the Ladd-Gilman House, with packet pick-up available Friday, July 10 between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning from 6:00 to 7:30 a.m. Race registration is available on Friday and Saturday for a stated fee of $45, and race shirts cannot be guaranteed for late registrations.
Timing is provided by Granite State Racing Services and the race is chip-timed, with the timing chip on the race bib. Portable toilets and public restrooms are available near the start area and the American Independence Museum. A bag drop is available at the registration table; bags should be clearly marked and retrieved immediately after the race. Post-race refreshments include bottled water, snacks, and fruit on Water Street in front of the American Independence Museum.
