Puppy Love 5K Presented by Matthews Media
The TTU School of Veterinary Medicine Shelter Medicine Club will host the inaugural Puppy Love 5K on February 14, 2027 in Canyon, Texas at 19290 Farm to Market 1541. The student-run event is a Valentine’s Day fundraiser that involves students, families, runners, and community members interested in shelter medicine.
The event features a professionally timed 5K distance of 3.1 miles managed by J3 Timing, commemorative race shirts, awards, and free race-day pictures. Free professional stretching will be available on race day through The Stretching Place. Participants can learn about adoptable dogs from the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine during the event.
As the Shelter Medicine Club’s first 5K fundraiser, proceeds will support student-led shelter medicine initiatives, community outreach, educational opportunities, and projects that aim to enhance the welfare of shelter animals while preparing veterinary students for careers in shelter medicine.
Registration opens August 14, 2026 and closes November 2, 2026. The listed registration fee is $35.00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
