Palo Duro Trail Run : October 17, 2026
The Palo Duro Trail Run is the 41st annual looped trail race held in Palo Duro Canyon, Texas, on October 17, 2026. The event offers multiple distances and a course that includes rolling singletrack, sand, and rock with short steep and technical ascents and descents. October weather in the canyon can range from freezing before sunrise to over 100 degrees in the afternoon. A revised course map is being finalized and will be published when available.

All registered participants receive a long sleeve technical shirt. Finishers in the 50K and 50M receive a unique Palo Duro belt buckle; 25K finishers receive a unique Palo Duro hat. The event provides four fully stocked aid stations with water, soda, pickle juice, Hyperlyte Liquid Performance, and a variety of salty and sweet foods including candy, chips, boiled salted potatoes, and PB&J sandwiches. This is a cupless event; runners must carry their own hydration system. Tents and canopies for crew are allowed only in a designated area at the start and finish.
Packet pickup is scheduled on October 15 and 16 at locations in Amarillo and Canyon. Pacers are allowed for the 50 mile race only on the final lap, must remain on foot, must register and pick up a pacer bib, and only one pacer is allowed per runner. Registration closes October 14 at 11:59 PM CT. No race day distance changes, refunds, or rollovers are offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
