Puppy Creek Fire Department "Run for a Cure" 5K
The Puppy Creek Fire Department "Run for a Cure" 5K is a community event on October 24, 2026 held at Cape Fear Valley Hoke Hospital, 210 Medical Pavilion Drive, Raeford, NC 28376. It includes an in-person 5K run/walk and a virtual 5K option. The event raises funds to provide free breast exams, wig assistance, and other breast cancer related services for Hoke County residents who lack resources.
Preregistration runs from April 1, 2026 to October 23, 2026 with an online fee of $35 and a walk-up fee of $40. A virtual race registration period and fee are also offered. Registrations completed by September 23, 2026 are guaranteed a race shirt and medal; registrations after that date and day-of walk-up entries are not guaranteed those items. Children age seven and under may participate for free but will not receive a shirt or medal.
The event is timed by participants. Cape Fear Valley Health is a partner and is providing the start and stop locations and parking. Hoke County Sheriff's Office and Hoke County EMS will assist with the event. Participants are asked not to bring pets, bicycles, or scooters; baby strollers are permitted.
