About the race
The Puppy Creek Fire Department “Run for a Cure” is a community event on 10/24/2026 at Cape Fear Valley Hoke Hospital, 210 Medical Pavilion Drive, Raeford, NC. The event offers an in-person 5K Run/Walk and a virtual 5K option.
Proceeds support free breast exams, wig assistance, and other breast cancer related services for Hoke County residents who lack resources. The event aims to raise awareness of breast cancer, encourage donations, and provide public education on identifying and coping with the disease. Cape Fear Valley Hoke Hospital is a partner and provided the start/stop and parking locations. Hoke County Sheriff’s Office and Hoke County EMS will assist with the event.
Preregistration for the in-person 5K carries a fee of $35 online and walk up registration is $40. The virtual 5K registration fee is $50. Early registration by 9/23/2026 guarantees a race shirt and medal; registrations after that date are not guaranteed shirts or medals and extra shirts on race day will be distributed on a first come basis. Children age 7 and under may participate for free but will not receive a shirt or medal. The event is self timed. Pets, bicycles, and scooters are not allowed; baby strollers are welcome.
