Punk Panther Ripon Stinger
Now in its second year, this trail event starts and finishes in Studley Roger near Ripon and mainly follows the Ripon Rowel route. The course passes wooded valleys and several historic sites, including the World Heritage Site Fountains Abbey, Studley Water gardens, the River Skell Valley of the Seven Bridges, St Margaret’s Church and Hackfall Woods.
Distances
- 13 miles
- 20 miles
- 35 miles
Climb for the three distances is approximately 750, 1750 and 3500 feet respectively. ITRA points and UTMB qualification are listed per distance. The minimum age is 18 and the event has a maximum of 200 entrants.
Registration and facilities are at Studley Roger Village Hall; toilets are available at registration. A car park on Studley Lane is used with a small donation to the farmer’s charity and short drop offs are permitted; parking in the village is not allowed. Checkpoints provide water, soft drinks, snacks and a box for vegan and gluten free items. Support crews are permitted at most CPs except CP3.
All ultramarathon entrants receive a tracker; shorter-distance runners can hire a tracker for a fee. Trackers are switched on at registration and transmit to an online tracker display; an emergency button on the tracker ends a competitor’s race. Competitors must carry mandatory kit listed by the organiser; random kit checks may be carried out and missing kit can lead to disqualification. Provisional GPX files are available and routes will be taped before the race, but tape can be moved so competitors should have their own navigation.
