Punk Panther Nidderdale Way
The Punk Panther Nidderdale Way is a trail running event set in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Yorkshire. The course takes participants through several landmark locations, including Ripley Castle, Brimham Rocks, Scar House Reservoir, and How Stean Gorge. The routes mainly follow the well-marked Nidderdale Way trail.
Runners can choose from four different distances:
- 13 miles (1,700 feet of climb)
- 20 miles (2,800 feet of climb)
- 32 miles (4,700 feet of climb)
- 56 miles (7,500 feet of climb)
The event is open to participants aged 18 and older. The registration and start point is located at the Pateley Bridge Cricket Club in North Yorkshire, with public car parks available nearby. All participants are provided with a GPS tracker to be worn throughout the race for safety and live tracking for friends and family.
The course features up to six checkpoints depending on the distance, providing water, soda, energy bars, and snacks, with dedicated options for vegan and gluten-free runners. There are time cut-offs at each checkpoint; participants arriving after a station has closed will be retired from the event. All finishers receive a medal and an event T-shirt, and homemade hot food is provided at the finish line.
Participants must carry a mandatory kit, which includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams, a survival bag, a head torch, a whistle, and a mobile phone. While the route is largely based on existing trail markings, GPX files and route descriptions are provided to all entrants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
