Eshton Moor (formerly Gargrave Cross Country)
Eshton Moor is a cross-country race organised by Wharfedale Harriers on 6 August 2026. The advertised distance is 5 Mile with approximately 550 ft of ascent. The route is an out-and-back over undulating fields along the line of the Pennine Way and passes close to the woods near Calton.
The course begins with a gentle climb up a long field before joining the Pennine Way. It follows the path across Eshton Moor, descends and crosses a river, then runs around a wood before returning the same way, including a climb back over Eshton Moor. The terrain is rural and includes fields, moorland path and a river crossing.
Racing categories listed include under-9, under-12, under-14, under-17 and senior races. Entry fees are shown as £2 for juniors and £5 for seniors. The event base is Old Hall Farm, Gargrave, North Yorkshire, BD23 3UT. Parking is noted on the road or by using a nearby farm track and field close to the start area.
Perpetual trophies are presented at this race to members of Wharfedale Harriers. Course records recorded in the event information are 31:05 for men (2018) and 35:44 for ladies (2023).
