Trail Running at Swinsty and Fewston Reservoirs
The Punk Panther Autumn Headtorch Half is a weekday evening trail event held in the Washburn Valley. Runners navigate a course around Swinsty Reservoir and Fewston Reservoir using head torches for visibility. The event is open to participants aged 16 and older, with a maximum capacity of 150 entrants.
Participants can choose from three different distances:
- Half Marathon: Approximately two laps of the reservoirs with 800ft of elevation gain.
- 10 km: One full lap of both reservoirs with 400ft of elevation gain.
- 5 km: One lap of Swinsty Reservoir with 200ft of elevation gain.
The event operates with a mandatory kit list, which includes a head torch and a mobile phone. The course is not marked with tape, and runners are briefed on the route before the start. The start and registration area are located at the Swinsty Moor Car Park, which provides on-site toilet facilities.
A central checkpoint at the organizer's gazebo offers water to runners after their first lap and at the end of the race. The finish line is situated at the edge of the woods near the car park. All participants who complete their chosen distance receive a finisher's medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
