Pueblo Spring Runoff
The Pueblo Spring Runoff is a long-standing athletic tradition in Colorado, hosted by the Southern Colorado Runners. Taking place at Dutch Clark Stadium, the event features three distinct road and trail races that utilize the Arkansas River Trail system. The event supports local community initiatives, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Care & Share Food Bank of Pueblo. Participants are also encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations on the day of the race.
The courses are designed to be traffic-free for participant safety, offering routes that cross the Arkansas River and provide views from the historic Arkansas River Levee. Runners pass through various landscapes, including old-growth Cottonwood forests and sections of the local water park.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5K Run: A flat and fast loop that crosses the river via a suspension bridge and returns along the levee.
- 10K Run: A large loop crossing at an iron bridge near Runyon Lake, featuring a section on top of the river levee.
- 10 Miles: An extensive route that circles Lake Runyon and follows the entire length of the levee on the north side of the river.
All races conclude with a partial lap inside Dutch Clark Stadium. Monetary awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers in each distance, and medals are provided for various age groups in five-year increments. Registered participants who sign up by the designated deadline receive a race shirt with the event logo. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
