Newbie to 5K training clinic
This is an eight week training clinic organized by Southern Colorado Runners, designed for people who have never run before or who have not run recently. The clinic begins Saturday, July 25 and meets on Saturday mornings at City Park Pavilion, 801 Goodnight Ave, Pueblo, CO 81005.
Training follows the Galloway run/walk/run method and uses a gradual, progressive schedule. Participants receive a published eight week training program that includes two individual runs during the week and one group run on Saturdays. Workouts start gently and increase week by week to build toward running a 5k (3.1 miles).
Instruction and information are provided on hydration, nutrition, injury prevention, running form, and basic training principles to support safe progression. The clinic includes entry into the Southern Colorado Runners Hot to Trot 5k on September 20, one year membership in Southern Colorado Runners, and a Southern Colorado Runners technical training shirt.
