Event overview
The Prisoner of War Trail Race is a trail running event on October 24, 2026 at Croft State Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina (450 Croft State Park Road, 29302). The event offers three distances:
- 50K - two full figure-eight loops
- 25K - one full figure-eight loop
- 8 Mile - the northern section of the figure-eight
Proceeds and donations support the Upstate Running Club Youth Team. All finishers receive a finisher medal. Race shirts are sold separately. The event is cup-less; participants should bring their own hydration vessel.
Course and logistics
The route uses a marked figure-eight loop through Croft State Park and includes roots, rocks, and elevation changes. A central aid station is located at the Activity Center and aid is available at the trail intersection roughly every 8 miles. Drop bags may be left on picnic tables near the Activity Center. Start and finish are colocated near the horse show ring and Activity Center.
Additional information: dogs are allowed on course; restrooms and showers are available before and after the race; there is a 10-hour overall time limit for all races and a 4-hour first lap cutoff for the 50K. Packet pickup is on race day at the Activity Center. Park admission fee applies unless the entrant has an annual state park pass. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
