The 50th Annual Race for the Grasshopper is a 5K held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Cowpens National Battlefield in Gaffney, SC. The listed entry price for the 5K is $40. Registration closes on December 4, 2025. The race organizers state there will be no race day sign up and that refunds or deferrals will not be offered; the event may be rescheduled in case of unsafe weather. This edition also notes the event coincides with the country's 250th year anniversary.
Early packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, January 9 at Gotta Run Spartanburg. Race day packet pick-up is available at the Cowpens Battlefield office parking lot.
Course and awards
The course is a single loop on the paved road at Cowpens Battlefield. A course video and a downloadable course map are provided by the organizers. Awards include Top 3 overall in open, masters, and grandmasters categories. Age group awards are given in the following divisions: 14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75 & over.
