SARR Prickly Pear

The SARR Prickly Pear takes place on March 7, 2026 at McAllister Park - Optimist Pavilion #3 in San Antonio, TX. The event offers in-person and virtual options with multiple distances on natural park trails.

Distances offered:

  • 50K, three 10.34 mile loops
  • 15K, one 9.36 mile loop
  • 5K, 3.38 miles

The course uses mostly flat, fast single-track trails including the Blue Loop, Mud Creek Loop, and Mosquito Lake trails. Runners will encounter rocks, tree roots, dry creek beds, and prickly pear cactus. All races start and finish at the same location. The looped course for the 50K and 15K includes three water stations, and the 5K has one station. Aid stations are stocked with Crazy Water and Gatorade. This is a cupless race; participants must carry their own hydration device or a collapsible cup.

The event is chip-timed and bibs must be worn on the front of the shirt. Awards are given to the Top 3 Overall and Top 3 Masters (40+) Female, Male, and Non-Binary in each distance; there are no age-group awards. Finishers receive a medal; 50K finishers also receive a hat and car sticker. Virtual participants receive a race t-shirt and finisher medal but are not eligible for awards or 50K finishers hats. There is a participation cap of 600 runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
