Event Overview

Course Description

The course is an out-and-back route on the Prairie Spirit Trail. It is primarily a crushed limestone trail with asphalt paths through towns. Runners start in Ottawa and travel south to various turnaround points: Richmond for the 50K, Garnett for the 50 mile, Welda for the 100K, and Iola for the 100 mile, before returning to the finish. The course is described as flat and relatively easy.

Aid Stations

Manned and unmanned aid stations are located approximately every 5 miles along the course. Manned stations are fully stocked with water, electrolyte drink, and snack-type foods, including soup and sandwiches. Unmanned stations provide water only.

Finisher Benefits

All finishers receive a unique belt buckle. Complimentary race photos are provided by Mile 90 Photography. Post-race meals are available for all participants.

Check-In and Packet Pick-up

Race headquarters is at Celebration Hall, located at 1737 South Elm, Ottawa, Kansas. Packet pick-up and drop-bag drop-off occur on Friday evening from 4-8 PM. Late packet pick-up is available on Saturday morning starting at 4:30 AM.

Top three male and female awards are given in all events.

Lodging

Several hotels are available in Ottawa, all within 10-15 minutes from Celebration Hall. Primitive camping or vehicle parking is permitted in the grass lot across from Celebration Hall.

Additional Details

Pacers are allowed for the second half of all events. The atmosphere is family-friendly. The courses are USATF certified. Trekking poles are permitted, and dogs are allowed on a leash.
