OUTLAST Kansas City
OUTLAST is a six hour trail endurance challenge held in Osawatomie, Kansas on 05/15/2027. The event consists of repeated 5K laps run once each hour; athletes must finish each lap within the hour to continue. Runners who finish early may rest until the next lap, while a missed or late lap eliminates the participant from further rounds.
Each 5K is timed individually. Runners who complete all six laps have their combined time used for local awards and placement on the global OUTLAST leaderboard. The top male and female with the fastest combined 5K times at the event receive the 1st Place OUTLAST award.
Courses are trail based, featuring natural terrain, elevation, and variable underfoot conditions; some sections may include pavement or gravel. Aid is available at the basecamp or loop start with water, basic hydration, and snacks. This is a cupless event, so participants must bring their own bottle or hydration system. Tent setups and personal aid stations are allowed on site, but no stakes are permitted.
Awards and recognition include patches for completing 4 and 5 laps, a premium OUTLAST medal for all six laps, and a premium OUTLAST tee for every participant. Finishers are ranked on a world leaderboard; the fastest runner across all OUTLAST 6-hour events receives a $1,000 World Champion prize. Top city finishers can qualify for the Outlast World Championship in DFW on December 4, 2027, where additional prize money is awarded.
