Kansas Rails-to-Trails Extravaganza
The Kansas Rails-to-Trails Extravaganza takes place on the Prairie Spirit Trail in Ottawa, KS, with multiple race distances and a shared start/finish at Celebration Hall. The course runs along crushed limestone with short stretches of asphalt when passing through towns. Several small towns lie along the route and turnarounds are located in specific towns for each distance.

Manned and unmanned aid stations are placed approximately every 5 miles, with no manned station spacing greater than a little over 9 miles. Manned stations offer water, electrolyte drink and snack-type foods; unmanned stations provide water only. Manned stations also provide drop-bag access. Pacers are allowed for roughly the last half of the event.
Race headquarters and the start/finish staging area are at Celebration Hall in Ottawa. Packet pick-up and drop-bag drop-off are scheduled Friday evening from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with Saturday morning packet pick-up beginning at 4:30 AM. Marathon and half-marathon participants must use a shuttle from Celebration Hall to Kingman Road due to parking and permit restrictions; failure to follow this may result in ticketing or disqualification.
Finishers within the time limits receive a date and distance specific custom buckle or medal; overall male and female winners in each race receive overall awards. Complimentary runner photos will be provided by Mile 90 Photography. The event uses a credit policy in lieu of refunds, with scaled credit amounts based on how far in advance credit is requested.
