Prairie Fire Race Series
The Prairie Fire Race Series is a set of road races in Wichita presented by the Wichita Sports Commission. It holds separate fall and spring editions, with the fall races planned for October 11, 2026 (the second Sunday in October) and the spring races planned for May 2, 2027 (the first Sunday in May).
The series began with the inaugural Prairie Fire Fall Marathon in 2010 and added a Prairie Fire Spring Half Marathon in 2013. Over the past 15 years more than 65,000 runners have competed in Prairie Fire events, with participants coming from all 50 states and more than 20 countries. The Prairie Fire Marathon is an urban marathon that features a flat, fast course that can qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Event materials and support for participants are organized through dedicated pages for registration, runner information, results, awards, vendors, volunteer registration, and training.
