Prairie Fire Race Series
Prairie Fire Race Series comprises spring and fall road races held in Wichita, Kansas. The 2026 spring edition is scheduled for May 3, 2026 and the 2026 fall edition is scheduled for October 11, 2026. The series includes a marathon event that previously was known as the Wichita Marathon.
The inaugural Prairie Fire Marathon took place in 2010. Over about 15 years more than 60,000 runners have taken part in the races. Participants have come from all 50 US states and from more than 20 foreign countries. The Wichita Sports Commission organizes the series and reports it has contributed over $200,000 to local charities and organizations through the event.
The fall marathon uses a flat, fast course that is described as Boston qualifying. The event program includes race results, awards, runner information, vendor participation and volunteer opportunities.
