Event overview
The Prairie Fire Race Series is a set of road races held in Wichita, Kansas, with spring and fall editions. The page lists the next spring event on May 3, 2026 and the fall event on October 12, 2025. The fall event includes a full marathon that the organizer describes as a flat, fast, Boston-qualifying course. The series was formerly known as the Wichita Marathon.
History and participation
The inaugural Prairie Fire Marathon took place in 2010. Over a 15-year period the Wichita Sports Commission reports it has contributed more than $200,000 to local charities and organizations. The races have attracted more than 60,000 participants overall, including entrants from all 50 U.S. states and more than 20 foreign countries.
