Potters 'arf Marathon
The Potters 'arf is a half marathon held in Stoke-on-Trent, scheduled for 4 October 2026. First staged in 2005, the event runs over the standard half marathon distance of 13.1 miles and takes participants through city streets, towns and surrounding countryside. The course includes the section known as "Heartbreak Hill" and finishes in the city centre where crowds line parts of the route.
The event day features a core half marathon plus related events such as a half marathon walk, relay options and short fun runs, allowing a range of participation formats. Organisers expect up to around 3,000 participants and highlight that participants raise tens of thousands of pounds for charities. Supported charities include the Samaritans branch in Stoke-on-Trent, the Macari Foundation, Dougie Mac and the Port Vale Foundation.
The organisers list a mix of headline sponsors, event sponsors and local partners, and note that the project is part-funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Information on course maps, road closures, volunteering and event support is provided by the organisers for entrants and local stakeholders.
