PortRun Half Marathon and 5K
The PortRun event takes place in Newburyport, Massachusetts, featuring two road running distances that start and finish near the RiverWalk Brewing Co. Participants navigate courses that remain open to vehicle traffic, with local police monitoring the roads. Due to the potential for warm temperatures, participants are encouraged to carry personal hydration equipment such as bottles, belts, or vests.
The event offers the following distances:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 5K
For the Half Marathon, six aid stations providing water and Gatorade are positioned approximately every two miles. The 5K course includes one aid station located near the 1.5-mile mark. Portable restrooms are available at the start and finish area, as well as along the course routes.
Award medals are provided to the top three male and female finishers in various age categories, ranging from 19 and under to 75-79. These must be collected from the designated tent on race day, as no formal ceremony is held and awards are not mailed. Bib numbers, race swag, and purchased merchandise must also be picked up on-site during the morning of the event.
Parking is prohibited at the start and finish line. Available parking options include the Newburyport Commuter Parking areas and a lot on Parker Street, all located a short walk from the staging area. A beer garden opens at the brewery following the conclusion of the races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
