Distances and Format
Participants can choose their distance on the day by running multiple laps of a single 2-mile loop course. The options are:
- 2 miles (one loop)
- 4 miles (two loops)
- 6 miles (three loops)
The course is described as having all-paved, flat surfaces on the streets of Merrimac.
Additional Events and Features
A free Elves Fun Run for children under 10 is held before the main race. There is also a separate, free race entry category for seniors aged 70 and older.
The event uses chip timing. Awards are given for male and female overall winners in each distance, followed by age group awards. Age groups are typically in 10-year increments, switching to 5-year increments for participants aged 60 and older, with prizes awarded two deep in each category.
Community and Theme
A portion of the race proceeds supports the Merrimac Holiday Helper Program, which aids local families. Participants are encouraged to wear ugly Christmas sweaters, with prizes for the best-dressed. The event is described as family, pet, and stroller-friendly. A giveaway is offered to the first 200 registrants.
The race is scheduled to be held regardless of weather conditions unless roads are closed by authorities. Registration fees are non-refundable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
