Santa's Toy Trot
The Santa's Toy Trot takes place in Merrimac, Massachusetts, featuring a road race course that begins and ends at the Sweetsir School. The event utilizes a 2-mile loop on flat, paved surfaces through local streets. Participants can choose their total distance during the event by completing the loop once, twice, or three times:
- 2 miles (one loop)
- 4 miles (two loops)
- 6 miles (three loops)
The race is chip-timed, and awards are presented for top overall male and female finishers in each distance. Age group awards are provided in 10-year increments, shifting to 5-year increments for participants aged 60 to over 90. The course is accessible for strollers and pets.
A dedicated children's event, the Elves Fun Run, is available for participants aged 10 and under. This run takes place around the school grounds and is led by a club member. Children receiving a gift upon reaching the finish line, where seasonal characters are present.
The event includes a holiday sweater theme with prizes for specific outfits. For runners aged 70 and older, the registration fee is waived in exchange for a toy or cash donation. A portion of the proceeds from the event supports the Merrimac Holiday Helper Program to assist local families. The first 200 registered participants receive a giveaway item.
