Santa's Toy Trot
The Winner's Circle Running Club hosts Santa's Toy Trot in Merrimac, Massachusetts, centered at the Sweetsir School on Church Street. The event uses a paved 2 mile loop that begins and ends at the school; participants choose to complete that loop once, twice, or three times to run 2 miles, 4 miles, or 6 miles.
The road races are chip timed and award male and female overall winners in each distance. Age group awards are given in 10 year increments, with 5 year age groups starting at age 60 through 90 and awards paid two deep. A portion of the event proceeds supports the Merrimac Holiday Helper Program. A giveaway for the first 200 registrants will be provided, details to be determined.
Prior to the main races there is a free Elves Fun Run for children 10 and under. The fun run circles the school, is led by a Winner's Circle Club member, and all child participants receive a gift at the finish. Santa and his friends will be present at the start and finish lines.
Registration for the main races opens January 5 and closes December 11. Entry fees are non refundable. The event is scheduled to run regardless of weather unless local authorities close the roads.
The Winner's Circle Running Club is a USATF certified, RRCA affiliate and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that aims to provide equal opportunities to participate in running. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
