Event overview
The Polish Independence 10K/5K Run/Walk is an annual event held in Chicago to mark Poland’s return to independence on November 11, 1918. The 2025 edition is the eighth annual running of the event and takes place at Grove 16, Montrose Harbor, Chicago, IL. The race has been organized in Chicago since 2018 by WPNA 103.1 FM, Polish American Mix.
Course and race details
The course is USATF-certified and runs along Lake Michigan, starting at Montrose Harbor. The event includes the following distances:
- 10 km run
- 5 km run
- 5 km walk
The 10K and 5K races use chip timing; the 5K walk is not timed. Chips are attached to race bibs and are disposable. Chip timing is not guaranteed for registrations made on race day. All participants receive a race bib, an event T-shirt, and a custom finisher medal. A post-race lunch is provided.
