About the race
The PŌHAKU X PENA Challenge is a run-swim-paddle event held in Lanikai, Oʻahu, on November 28, 2026, based at 1040 Mokulua Drive. The event offers three divisions with different team sizes and ways to complete the course: Solo, Relay (minimum 2, maximum 3), and Team (minimum 3, maximum 6). Registration is free; registration opens October 1, 2026, and closes November 22, 2026. Donations toward race shirts and participant items are requested but optional.
The course combines a run, an open-water swim, and a paddle leg. Distances are preliminary and will be confirmed once final course markings and buoy locations are set.
- Approximately 2.5-mile run
- Approximately 700-yard swim
- Approximately 3.3-mile paddle; final paddle distance to be confirmed
The route begins at marked flags on the property at 1040 Mokulua Drive and finishes at a marked canoe on the beach. Timing is recorded with a chip attached to the race bib; the bib and chip are required for an official time. Packet pickup details, pre-race briefing information, and the paddle course will be announced once confirmed. Parking and restrooms are available at Lanikai Park. Post-race provisions include bentos and raffle prizes. Awards will recognize the top three in each division plus five additional recognition awards.
