Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk
The Kaiwi Coast Run & Walk is an annual, community oriented pedestrian event held on Oahu. The course is approximately 4 miles and is limited to 3,000 entrants. It is the only pedestrian race sanctioned for this section of the Kaiwi Coast scenic highway.
The route begins at Awāwāmalu (Sandy Beach Park), continues around the Kaiwi coastline, passes Hālona and Hanauma Bay, crosses the pedestrian overpass at Kalanianaʻole Highway and Lunalilo Home Road, and finishes at the Hui Nalu Canoe Club on the shores of Maunalua Bay. Failure to use the pedestrian overpass results in disqualification.
Packet pickup locations include the Hui Nalu Canoe Club Hālau at Maunalua Bay Beach Park, Kahala Mall Center Court, Windward Mall, Runners HI Pearl Kai Shopping Center, and a run-number pickup point at Awāwāmalu (Sandy Beach). Goodie bags and T-shirt sizes are distributed while supplies last and are not guaranteed.
Participant parking is provided at Hawaii Kai Towne Center Executive Plaza and Costco, with limited parking near City Mill, Ross, and Raising Cane’s. A free race shuttle operates between Hawaii Kai Park N Ride and the start, with a post-race bus returning to Awāwāmalu; shuttle rules prohibit dogs and allow strollers.
Finish line amenities include light refreshments and booths from local non-profits and sponsors. Awards honor the top three overall men and women and five-year age divisions from under 10 through 90 plus. Souvenirs and a commemorative glass fishing float are available, and a paid Kula 100 brunch package is offered separately and limited in quantity.
