Plain Endurance Runs
The Plain Endurance Runs are held near Leavenworth, WA on USFS trails and forest service roads within the Lake Wenatchee, Entiat, and Chelan ranger districts. The course combines approximately 85 miles of trail and 20 miles of forest service road in a remote mountain setting, with total elevation gain and loss of roughly 21,000 feet.
This is a self-supported event with one resupply point available after the first 100K. Water on course comes from creeks and rivers; participants must carry their own food and required gear from the start or from the resupply point. The terrain is described as fairly difficult and requires preparation for long, self-sufficient segments.
The event is run as a nonprofit. Proceeds support local Search and Rescue organizations and military veteran support groups.
Qualification standards differ by distance:
- Plain 100K
- Plain 100 Mile
For the Plain 100 Mile, entrants must have completed a TRAIL 100 mile event or the Plain 100K, or an equivalent very challenging, self-supported event that typically requires about 15 hours or more on foot. There is no qualification required for the Plain 100K, though a challenging 50 mile event is suggested as a minimum level of ability.
If the event is cancelled, refunds are not given except that some funds may be returned after withholding direct expenses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
